TIA is extremely excited to announce the development of our new School Outreach program in 2011, and we need your help! If you are a student or teacher and want to bring TIA to your school, we want to hear from you!

High Schools
This is a unique and rewarding program for all high school students who want to learn more about Bolivia and make a difference to the lives of those who have been adversely affected by poverty.

Students will have educational workshops with members of the TIA team to educate them about the issues in Bolivia, and then the students will plan and organise small events or fundraisers once a term, and money raised will go directly towards TIA’s projects in Bolivia. This program is open to all students, and is particularly suitable for those interested in a career in event management, marketing, social work, journalism, humanitarian aid work, international development, business and Spanish. They will acquire new skills and knowledge in their areas of interest, and have a better understanding of how local businesses and non profit organisations operate. This program is particularly suitable for IB students looking to contribute to their 150 CAS hours.

Primary Schools
We are also looking at developing a program to use in Primary Schools that will encourage students to develop an interest in and awareness of children in developing countries and the difficulties they face. This program will fit with the school curriculum and we are developing learning resources and materials to implement interactive lessons with the children and make it interesting for them.

We want every young person to realise that they have the power to make a difference, no matter how small.

If this sounds like something you would like to help us work on, or if you know anyone who may be interested, please email amy.tran@tia.org.au
